Sometimes, I wonder why people take so long to "get ready" for a formal event. Ok, let's not talk about like a super super formal event with some celebrity VIP or extremely rich guests. But let's talk about a normal formal student event.
Seriously, do you need THAT much make up? Noone's really gonna look. If anything at all, I find it distracting and the smell of strong make up just makes me nauseous. Besides that, dresses are the easiest things to put on. At the most 2 minutes is needed to slip it on and zip it up.
And, that's why a typical scenario in my residential college when there is a formal event is everyone rushing around 30-40 minutes before the event getting ready. Me-- prancing around in the corridor until 5-10 minutes before the event. Then, goes into room and gets out in like at least 5 mins >.<.
Maybe I'm just really lacking in social norms or something but I believe that noone is really watching everything you do and if they are... do they really care? Of course this applies to strangers. So, what's wrong with prancing down the road like a hyper little kid. What's wrong with laughing your head off like a maniac. What's wrong with standing in front of the theatre wearing the "Phantom of the Opera" mask and taking pictures.

doesn rly matter (well...some ppl would mind..) if no1 looks... wat matters most is u feel good about urself :)
dat said..i'm one of dem.. LOL i take around 30 mins to get rdy 4 jus abt anything (unless i'm rushin4 time) for one thing..i like 2 do it at my own pace..wid no hurry :) i am well able 2 get rdy within 5mins if needed (n dat includes a shower...)
as 4 doing all dose...wat ppl wud consider 'out of the norm' tings...well...nth is WRONG...its jus a lil embarassing (humans..such social creatures..) even if its some1 u dun know...its irrelvant in a typical person's mind...embarassing act=embarassing act...regardless of d circumstances...
Caring about what poeple think sometimes is over-rated... sometimes if you care bout what people think about you all the time, you end up not being you yourself at all... er... does that make sense to you??
in any society, any community, it is the nature of things to have a certain percentage of certain 'sample'... take a school for example, you need to have a certain percentage of high scorers, a certain percentage of failures, and of course the average students...
so in any society, you'll have those people who takes at least an hour to get ready, and you'll have those who take less to get ready, like you... there is nothing wrong in taking such time to get ready, but what they don't realise is that after all that, they're still gonna have to take it off in a few hours time...
make-up, is just another way of covering up who people really are within... people feel embarassed by who they really are, therefore putting loads of make-up resulting them taking such a long time to get ready... plus you know them, they think that those functions are a way for them to attract cute guys and all, not for the real agenda of the function...
there is totally nothing wrong with prancing around, and there is definitely nothing wrong with laughing your head off... i do that all the time when i'm with the right crowd...
just because you don't do what other people do doesn't mean you're wrong, and it doesn't mean that they're wrong either...
putting on too much make up, well people have different definitions of beauty, so i guess there's nothing wrong with that, though not my own preference. and you have to understand that make up is like one of the female adulthood symbols, so it's like putting on make up, they feel more of a women (maybe?) and also like what they all said above, people who feel insecure also wear more make up so they feel better about themselves...
qi hong looks hot with make up! lolz... no! i'm becoming one of them... anyways, you jealous that they look better than you with make up ar? lolz jkjk don't hurt me...
note: prancing around like a hyper little kid and laughing your head of might get you deported back to malaysia and get you sent to tanjung rambutan. don't worry, i'll send a fruit basket.
i totally agree with the 3 comments above..especially the part on make up makes a girl feel good..it doesnt matter if anyone looks at them as long as they r happy with the way they look! i think tats a valid enuf reason for them to do so

i guess putting on make up is a lot like working out. you don't criticize a person for working out but you criticize a person for putting on make up? i mean it's basically the same thing, changing your image. yes one is ala natural while the other is more temporary but it's ideally the same in my opinion.

Whereas wid makeup..well...u need $$ (unless u loan ur best fren's makeup everytime lar =.=") and well...dere rly isn any other benefit other den looking better to urself n possibly other ppl :)

Anyways, I did use to loan Yong's make up during Leo functions. HAHAHA!! Pai seh :P actually, even during my dance concerts, I had to borrow ppl's make up :P
Anyways, make up makes ur skin dry and that causes wrinkles to appear faster. So , it's better not to at such a young age I guess. Hey. when did this become a convo about make up?
