Dear Ms Fergie and the likes

Dear Ms Fergie and the likes,

I honestly do not care how your waist moves.

I really don't want to know whatcha gonna do with all that JUNK inside your TRUNK.
I think you really should throw it out if you don't want a rodent infestation.

It is really not that impressive that you can spell.
(G-L-A-M-A-R-O-U-S and T-A-S-T-E-E???)

Would you realise if someone really DID "funk" with your heart? Seems like you are too obsessed with yourself that your partner may be off "funking" with someone else and you wouldn't even realise it as you stare at yourself in the mirror and work out day and night, day and night, day and night.

Do you really expect us to believe that there really is some smart metaphorical meaning behind "London Bridge"? I think you did it just to annoy the brits who originated the words that you try so hard to spell.

And, No. Miss Fergie and the likes... I do not appreciate your irritatingly infectious songs that pollute our minds and force young girls to go on crazy diets so that they have too TINY of a trunk to fit ANY junk.

So, no thank you for this culture you have imposed on us.

Yours ungratefully,
Sick and Tired

Being able to plop myself in front of a TV after 4 long months made me restless instead. So, Im just gonna rant all I want babeh!!

Home from the 1st Sem of Uni

Yes.. I arrived home this morning at 6am!!!

That was a long ass plane ride. Fine Fine.. 8 hours really isn't as bad as the people from the US.

Leaving IH with Audrey and Alex bidding me farewell was a heart breaking affair. I have to come out and be honest. I haven't been mixing around a lot with the M'sians during my stay in Australia.

Instead, Ria (from Dubai) and I have become close friends with the Americans on our floor and the floor above. Next semester is gonna be so different without them there anymore. It makes me afraid to go back. It makes me wanna move out. There just this mental image inside my head of me running away from a giant IH bubble.

Opps sorry..

So being back home is such a relief! I was surprised that I knew where most things were. HAHHA! ok.. not THAT surprised but everything is so sticky on me now >.< Have to get back to the humidity of this country.

I think my nose got used to the winter weather 'cause I just stopped sniffling over in Australia but once I landed here... All hell broke loose and I started sneezing and sniffling again. Sheesh... way to go...

Anyways, hoping I will sweat off whatever excess weight I have and am gonna gain. HAHAH! Whee~

It's amazing how 1st sem has gone by so quickly. It's weird having parents telling you what to do again >.< (kinda gets a TAD annoying sometimes, if you know what I mean).

I feel like I have experienced so much...I feel like maybe I have changed a lil bit but Im glad im still the same. Yeah la... 5 months wasn't that long but it sure seemed like a long time with all the shit that gets thrown at you in that one short semester.

Well, here's to a GREAT stay in M'sia :D

Only Good things await

11am (yes la.. very late) :
Woke up to the sound of my ringing cellphone... nice tune and all but the voice on the other end started my day on a lousy note. "Im sorry Miss Lim, we are unable to upgrade your ticket to get your seat back home. You would have to go back on the waiting list."

11:02 am :
I stare at the phone after I put it down, not knowing what to do. I finally decide to call my dad.. BUT... after I take a shower.

11:30am (yes, I DID take a proper shower):
Calls dad and plans strategy of attack. Called the Melbourne MAS office who cuts me off half way, puts me on hold and transfers me to another department. Lady at the department informs me that the matter is for the reservation department to handle and the number is blah blah blah. I proceed to call the reservation department and they ask me to call Melbourne back. Finally, someone helps me out and proposes an option for me but she asks me to go to the office as soon as possible.

12pm:
Skips lunch and proceeds to take 2 trams to get to Melbourne MAS office

12:30pm:
Curses silently inside that I had to get stuck behind someone else who has trouble with their incompetent ticketing agent as well.

12:45pm:
Nice lady helps me and gives me all the possible suggestions. I had to submit and buy a brand new one way ticket. However, realising that I do not have enough cash in hand and my eftpos card cannot be used to pay that much of an amount. So, I abandoned the counter for a while and rushed down to the ATM machince to withdraw money and rush back up to the 15th floor again to pay her.

1pm:
Satisfied with the fact that I got a ticket back home. Busies self with sms-ing dad and Joshua. (Forgets to validate ticket)

1:30pm:
On the 2nd tram... Mind starts to drift off and realised too late that the tram ticket officers have hopped on to the tram and I was caught without a validated ticket.

1:50pm:
Reach International House just in time before the kitchen doors close for lunch.

2pm:
Finishes lunch but feels so preoccupied with the day's happenings that studies was a difficult thing to concentrate on.

3pm:
Karen advises me to take a 20 minute nap. I do so... and woke up to go to the library to study

4pm:
Arrived at library and studied till 6pm

6:20pm:
Arrived back home and went for dinner. Declined Ria's invitation to go out with her to eat dinner. Realised that I feel so alone without my usual hang of floormates around.

7pm:
Decides to be all "Emo" and come up to room and started blogging

Now, why would anyone would have cared for that? I just hope that I can do well tomorrow. I really really need to pass. Im scared and worried and just so pent up inside right now. All I really want to do is sit on a couch and stare for a while. People have seen me do that a couple of times here. Maybe I shall go ahead and do that?

Somehow, I feel better. Somehow, I wish I was back home. Somehow, I wish I wasn't in an anti-social mood. Somehow, I wish someone would just hug me >.<

I pray for a happier and good day tomorrow! *pray pray pray pray!!*

Butterfly Wings

I'll let the butterfly go

Free with its wings in the air

Go my dear

No words needed in the course for freedom

With wings spread..

They flutter

They fly

Spread your beating of love

The world needs your key

Let the butterfly wings set you free

satisfied but screwed

Returned from my God Aunt's house today.

She cooked the most fabulous meal ever.

Shark's Fin Soup, Satay and Noodles...
All beautifully yummy!

I felt bad walloping all the good food. Sometimes I think I really DO eat too much. Ok... no.. I always do eat too much but oh well... twas good tonight and Im happy AND satisfied :D

However, my first Law exam is in 4 days time and I haven't really done any proper notes. So pretty screwed for that. Let us all pray and hope I can somehow think like a judge during exams. HAHAHA!

Everyone seems to be stressing over exams but I'm sure in the end everyone is gonna breathe a big great sigh of relief that it's all over and some people (me, damn it!) GET TO GO HOME!!!

YES YES YES!!

Granted I love Australia and all the friends here but going home seems like such an exciting time too. On the way back to IH in the car just now, I couldn't help but day (eventhough twas technically night already)dream about the day I get back home. So, I wasn't concentrating on the roads and ended up being not sure what to say when asked where to turn to get back to IH. Opps. >.<
Well, I did get back in the end. Not like they (God Aunt's daughter and her fiance) didn't know the place or anything.

It's getting cold here. I'm wearing out all my long pants so that I will just continously wear shorts and sleeveless t shirts once I get back. Oh Joy! It's gonna be so much fun!!!!

It's too much!!.. and your advice makes no sense whatsoever.

So... I was just wondering why we, the residents of International House (Melbourne), have to pay so much for many unjustifiable things.

1. Paying for our own laundry?!

-$3 each time we do our landry is still a lot considering we pay $400 a week!

2. Hot dogs that don't really taste like real sausages...

-Yet... they still put up little brochures telling us to not eat fast food. However, if we ever decide to do so, we should go for the "GROUMET" burgers that Scolarest doesn't seem to serve. Hmmm...

3. Actually, in general... just for the dodgy food here. It deserves to be placed under two points for where our money unjustifiably goes to.

4. The fact that our Deputy Head of House has a freaking mansion on Phillip Island.

I will not deny that all the staff here are undeniably nice to us... but what I do not get is why did

5. I have to clean out the most disgusting microwave I have ever seen, despite the cleaners coming by everyday, and most of all when everyone in the House has paid so much for the services here.

The insides of the microwave were layered with a disgusting layer of some kind of "meat" and grease. It smelled like puke and was in DIRE NEED of scraping.

I didn't have gloves so fellow floormates helped me to wrap my hands in plastic bags. (yes I know I look weird with that expression on my face but that's how disgusting it was--till I didn't care how I looked like on camera! >.<)

Im just saying, yes, we do get a little extra perks here and there living in a college and that's probably where the money goes but still not THAT much money goes to all that LITTLE extra perks we get here.

The fact is, noone can explain to us the one-month-old hot cross buns or the hot dogs that don't taste like hot dogs or the unflushable toilets or why we still have to pay for our own laundry.

The fact is... I can't stand living in this bubble anymore.

Random? Pfftt...I'll beat you hands down

So, I would reckon a lot of people have said that I am rather random.

Most of the time it is when we are having a perfectly normal conversation and I randomnly jump to a topic that has no clear link to the prior topic we were talking about.

For example:
Number 1
Z and I talk about how couples tend to lose friends because they spend immense amounts of time with each other.

"Yeah. It is quite difficult sometimes to maintain the same friendship as before you became a couple. "

*walks through really tall grass in the park*

tInKy: "Did you know that you should always try to walk in front when hiking through the rainforest, so that the leeches don't get you."

Z : "You don't have to feel awkward talking about the topic you know?"

tInKy:"Opps. Sorry I changed the topic again, didn't I?"

Number 2
*eating cereal at the breakfast table*

*puts down spoon in the middle of eating cereal*

*gets up went back into the kitchen and made toast*

*comes back to the table all happy with my toast*

Y: "Did you just suddenly FELT like making toast in the middle of eating cereal?"

tInKy: "mm hmm"

Y: "man, THAT's totally random!"

Well, maybe this is why I am not doing all that great in Law at the moment because at times I link things in really odd ways. Which reminds me of something...that may also be a little bit off topic.

So, you know, being a Tiny Asian Girl (aka T.A.G.) here, a lot of people presume that I am innocent and that I don't know any "ham sup" (or "dodgy" as these Australians call it) stuff. However, little did they know...

*Again, at the dining table*
K:"Yes we got bananas today. I'm gonna eat mine now. *munch* Man, my banana is REALLLY HARD!"

*random "HEHE" is heard at the initially silent dining table*

*fellow dining mates stare unbelievingly at tInKy* : "WHAT?! It's just a banana"

*laughs even more*

*whole table bursts out laughing*

M: "I can't believe it Sue-Anne, we truly have corrupted you."

If only they knew....~ >.<

why do we need to have exams in the coldest place on earth?

So two exams down!!
Accounting and Microeconomics were tricky and one would wonder why they teach us the simplest things in lectures but give us the most confusing questions ever. Ok... it wasn't THAT bad. :P But seriously! I NEVER knew that economics could have so many long ass stories to confuse you and CHALLENGE you into extracting a concept from that half-a-page story...

wow....Ok... Since im done with ranting about the exam papers, I shall continue to rant about the fact that the venue and the sheer amount of people taking the exam is scary shit. SCARY!!I would like to NOT touch on the situation during the first day of exams but I'm sorry, I must.

First of all, we get there and realise there are also 3rd year accounting students who were taking exams in the SAME exact hall! Holy crap... how big is the hall??? It was HUGE! We had to sit on 2 separate sides of the building. Oh. Yes I forgot to mention that the building was called the

Royal Exhibition Building.Advice from seniors:
1. Try and arrive just in time 'cause you will get frustrated by the sheer fact that it's cold and there are another few thousand students crowding in around you trying to jam into 2 of the tiniest doors ever.

2. Wear multiple layers of clothing 'cause it will get so cold that you cannot even write properly.

The question really is.... How come they squeeze 2 accounting subjects worth of students into 2 doors when there a total of 8 doors in the whole entire building?!??! Truth is.. I don't know... I don't like the invigilators....They caused me to lose my favourite mechanical pencil!See... I dropped it onto the floor and it was wayyyy in front of me... impossible for me to crawl under the table and reach that far off to get it... USUALLY, observant invigilators will notice that SOMETHING fell onto the floor and pick it up FOR you... So, why didn't they do it?! I totally forgot to pick it up after the exam. >. <

Ok... Im really just ranting 'cause im typing on Monvan's laptop now which is so nice to type on! :D It's a MAC with a keyoard protector... so it's quiet AND soft :P

Anyways... talking on the phone with Yuan Dong yesterday was such a relief 'cause now I know he's doing well and it just made me feel ssooo mcuh better just to talk to someone I have known for so long. Granted talking to parents are awesome but old friends is awesome too. THe sense of belonging and self confidence just all come back.

What I did today was think back to the conversation I had with him and returned to calmness again everytime I strated freaking out about microeconomics. So it was good that I called and I have to give credits to Christopher for suggesting to me to call if I really was that worried. hehehe! Yes... *doink* why didn't I think about that myself?! Actually, I did. Just that Im too used to getting approval from someone before carrying out anything on my own.

That's the diff between studying overseas and studying back home I suppose. Everything is on your head now. Every choice is your own. You freak out? Nobody has enough energy or time or commitment to calm YOU down. It's all on your head.

Floormates just said "I like it here 'cause ALL of us don't care about the drama... and end the nights on a high note"Now, that's the way to live life. Life with almost no drama ... ~
